Dear Parents and Friends,

Welcome back to another term at First Class.  We trust you were able to spend some quality time with your children over the school holidays.  As winter approaches please take some time to think about keeping your children healthy through the cooler months - and what you'll do if they do become ill.

In An Emergency

Every child should have an emergency contact on their enrolment form.  This person needs to be someone that can come and collect your child if we can not get hold of you.  So if this information needs updating - please use the tear off slip at the bottom of this newsletter.

Winter Months

As the weather is now getting cooler, please make sure children have warm clothing and also a change of clothing in their bags.

None of us enjoy being sick.  To keep the winter bugs to a minimum, please keep unwell children at home or make alternative arrangements for them.  We realize sickness can be very inconvenient, especially to working parents, but please respect the fact that we can not look after sick children, and remember it is not in their best interests to be here when unwell either.

How To Spot A Staff Member

All permanent staff will now be sporting flash new name badges to make them easier to spot.  To see who is teaching in your child's area - see the area notice board which will have a photo of your child's teachers for the day.

Nursery

The nursery has welcomed several new children over the last month - we welcome them and their families to First Class - and are pleased to see they are settling in well.  The nursery children continue to be interested in the outdoors and like to go exploring in their big red buggy.

The Kindergarten Unit and the Miracle Mouse

Have you met Dox yet?  Last week Betty brought a mouse cage to work, with a toy mouse inside.  On the same day - what did the toddler unit find in their bird food bucket but a real mouse!  The children had a great time taking turns to hold the mouse and let it walk on their arms.  The mouse has been christened "Dox."  He has been a great addition to the learning going on in the Kindergarten Unit.

The Kindergarten Unit have also been having a great time learning about construction - check out the tyre hut in their outdoor area.  This has been a teepee, a pirate ship, a pirate's cage/jail, and a whole lot of fun!

Toddlers Unit

The toddlers unit have been looking at their outdoor area and wondering what changes they can make.  So watch this outdoor space over the next few weeks and see what ideas they came up with.

Have a great month

Lorraine Schou
